Why take a Western Galilee tour in autumn?

In autumn, the Galilee changes color. The summer heat is gone, so you can walk with ease all day. Also, the light is soft, and the views are clear after the first rain.

The mix of places also makes a big difference. In one day, you go from the beach to a peak at about 900 meters. On the way, you meet the sea, the forest, history, art and wide views of Lebanon.

There is one more good reason to come. After the war, the region is still on the way back. So every stop at a bakery, an ice cream shop or a local village helps the people of the north.

Our Western Galilee tour route: 6 stops in one day

1. Coffee and pastries at Tusha Bakery

We meet in the morning at Tusha Bakery, near Achziv Beach. It is one of the best bakeries in the country, so come early and enjoy your coffee. You can also buy fresh bread and pastries for the weekend.

2. Achziv Beach: tide pools and rock shelves

Next, we cross the road to Achziv Beach. Here we walk between natural pools and flat rock shelves, and we watch the local fishermen. We also share stories of the secret immigration to the Land of Israel in the years before 1948. In addition, you will hear about the old railway that once ran from Haifa to Beirut.

Before you go, check opening hours and updates on the Israel Nature and Parks Authority website.

3. Adamit Park and the Keshet Cave view

Then we drive east to Adamit Park. Here we take a short and accessible trail to the lookout above the Keshet Cave, a huge natural rock arch. It is a perfect place for photos and for the story of the land below.

4. The Northern Road and the Talking Walls of Shtula

After that, we drive with care along the Northern Road, close to the border with Lebanon. The road winds through forests and villages to Moshav Shtula. There you will see the “Talking Walls”, a street art project. Local people painted it with artists from abroad, right on the concrete walls that guarded the village.

5. The Mount Adir lookout

Our next stop is close to the top of Mount Adir, at about 900 meters. The lookout honors the soldiers who fell in the Second Lebanon War, and it faces Lebanon. Here we talk about the conflict between the two countries. We also point out places that most people only know from the news.

6. Kibbutz Sasa and the Druze village of Hurfeish

After a heavy moment, a sweet stop follows. At Kibbutz Sasa, we taste Buza ice cream. We also hear a surprising story about the kibbutz and a famous American jazz singer. Finally, we end the day in the Druze village of Hurfeish. There you can stroll the main street and taste the local food.
